Meldreth, Shepreth & Foxton Community Rail Partnership united with local cub group to host a bake sale at Letchworth Railway Station during the Great Get Together weekend.

The 4th Letchworth Cubs are working towards their Platforms for Change badge, a joint initiative from Community Rail Network and the Scouts. In addition to the bake sale, on Friday 21 June, the group were treated to backstage tours of the platform and ticket office.

The Great Get Together is an annual celebration of everything that unites our communities and is inspired by the late Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.

The bake sale raised over £200, with the proceeds split between the cubs and the Jo Cox Foundation.

The cubs will return to the station in September for a special ‘try the train’ trip hosted by the community rail partnership. The trip will take the group by train to Cambridge where the children will explore the Botanic Gardens, as they complete their Platforms for Change badge.

Sarah Grove, Community Rail Partnership Officer at Meldreth, Shepreth & Foxton Community Rail Partnership said, “We were delighted to host the cubs at Letchworth Station to commemorate the Great Get Together and help the group work towards their Platforms for Change badge. The cubs were delighted to see the workings of the station and were especially pleased that the cake sale got a mention on the tannoy!”
