Meldreth-Melbourn – The Wonderpass
Words cannot do justice to the transformation of what was just a few weeks ago a dingy and neglected place that didn’t inspire confidence – but which now figures on the essential off-road walking route between our two villages. Two weeks of community art, in which people of all ages have come down to pick up a paintbrush have resulted in a tribute to the vibrant place that is our community.
A very big thank you to all the people and groups that have made this happen – including partnership funding from Melbourn and Meldreth Parish Councils, the Community Rail Network, South Cambs District Council, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and support also from Cambridgeshire County Council and SDC contractors, builders of the new TTP campus just finished at Melbourn Science Park who wanted to contribute to a lasting community scheme.
The Meldreth Shepreth and Foxton Community Rail Partnership Project Officer Sarah Grove coordinated a formidable collaboration while artistic vision and action was down to local artist Bec Barnes.
If you’d like to feel your heart uplifted, please walk the Melbourn Station Road path across the field toward Meldreth Station. Smiles are guaranteed!
